Aristotle Update

This page includes materials sketching the design of a major research project the Institute is launching:

In 2019-20, the Institute organized the Aristotle Research Seminar, sponsored by LSU’s Center for Collaborative Knowledge (CCK).  Here is a copy of the agenda for the original seminar and a list of participants.  Funding was renewed for 2020-21, with an expanded group examining Aristotle’s De Anima and then reading Darwin’s Origin of Species.  (Here is the 2020-21 agenda and participant list.)  Funding has been renewed again for 2021-22, with the group examining Darwin’s Descent of Man and Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics.  (Here is the 2021-22 syllabus and participant list.). In 2022-23 we read Aristotle’s De Caelo and Galileo’s Dialogue Concerning the Two World Systems.  In 2023-24 we read Aristotle’s Posterior Analytics and Thomas Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions.  In 2024-25 we read Aristotle's Art of Rhetoric and Daniel Kahnemann's Thinking, Fast and Slow.
