Undergraduate Research
Students with LSU scholarships or work-study awards that provide support for campus jobs can work in a research laboratory.
For students in the Honors College, such research may be applied towards an Honors Thesis.
Undergraduate research in Biological Sciences
BIOL 3999 offers the option of performing research for course credit.
As a general guide, 1 credit hour is earned for 3 clock hours of research activity per week during a regular semester. Letter graded.
All students in the department may earn a maximum of six hours of BIOL 3999. Three credit hours may be used as advanced BCH, BIOL or MBIO electives and up to a maximum of 3 credit hours can be used as approved electives. BIOL 3999 may not be used as a laboratory course.
