Curricular requirements for PhD program

At least 15 hours of course credit
Dissertation research hours
BASC 7000 (1) Methods of instruction in college life science laboratories
BIOL 7921 (2) One entry research seminar (second year) and one exit (defense) seminar
BIOL 7901/BIOL 7902 (4) Topic-oriented seminars
Qualifying exam at end of first year (with committee consisting of major advisor and at least two members of the graduate faculty)
General exam not later than end of third year (Dean's Representative appointed by the Graduate School to be added to committee).
Teach at least one semester in the undergraduate program
Defense/final exam – with at least one first author publication.
