IRES Application Portal
Welcome!
Are you interested in water treatment technologies? Have you ever wanted to visit France? If you are a student looking for research experience, please consider applying to this IRES program!
In the summer of 2024, LSU students will partner with students from Michigan State University and researchers in Montpellier, France to tackle global water quality challenges. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation in their International Research Experience for Students (IRES) program. Dr. Samuel Snow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will lead LSU’s portion of the project. Learn more about the project from an LSU article here, or at the project website here.
Students participants (three per year for the LSU cohort), including undergraduate and graduate students, will embark on a fully funded, 12-week IRES experience including a 9-week research stay at French laboratories. Each U.S. student will be co-supervised by U.S. faculty and an international mentor. The University of Montpellier and the European Institute of Membranes Specific projects will include the use of nanotechnology and photochemistry to provide sustainable solutions to treating challenging water and wastewater sources.
Applications are now OPEN; if interested, please apply here. Applications will remain open until February 16th, 2024. Contact Dr. Snow if you have any questions or concerns.
