Apply to be a Graduate Student

This page will contain information on the Snow lab's current needs for graduate research assistants. Please see below for recent announcements:

(December 2021)

The Snow and Bivins Labs in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University are seeking two graduate students in association with their recently funded EPA project to improve community health through microbial source tracking. The project, titled "Microbial Source Tracking and UV-LEDs to Mitigate Fecal Contamination in Louisiana Rivers", will involve the use of molecular methods to identify sources of fecal pollution in two waterbodies and the pilot testing of UV-LEDs to disinfect single-home domestic wastewater prior to discharge into surface waters. In addition to scientific research and publication, the project will entail coordination and collaboration with a diverse array of stakeholders including community members and local governments to achieve meaningful improvement in the water quality of the relevant communities.

The Snow Lab seeks a M.S. to lead the technological development and testing of UV-LED disinfection devices for use in single-home scale systems for this EPA project under the supervision of Dr. Samuel Snow. The Sow lab also seeks a Ph.D. student to work on a related NSF-funded project investigating reactive oxidants in LED-driven UV-AOP systems.

The Bivins Lab seeks a Ph.D. student to assume primary responsibility for developing and implementing context-appropriate microbial source tracking methods under the advisement of Dr. Aaron Bivins.
