Current studies in the UP Lab

Study 1: A longitudinal analysis of sitting, object exploration, and dyadic play

• Purpose: We want to know how babies learn to sit, play with toys, think, and communicate.
• Participation: Trained staff would assess your baby’s thinking, language, play & movement with toys and games.
• Visits: 4 times over 3 months and each visit would be 1 hour.
• Compensation: Your baby gets an age-appropriate toy after each visit.
• We are recruiting babies younger than 7 months old.

Study 2: Nanit study

• Purpose: We want to see if a novel technology can identify developmental progress in young babies.
• Participation: Trained staff would assess your baby’s thinking, language, play & movement with toys and games.
• Visits: 2 times over 3 months and each visit would be 1.5-2 hours.
• Compensation: For the first visit you are given a Nanit camera system, $50 for the second visit, and free Nanit service for the entirety of the study.
• We are recruiting babies born prematurely or with a normal birth, aged 6, 9, and 12 months adjusted for prematurity.
