Dr. Huang is passionate about unraveling the complexities of the climate system and improving predictions of climate extremes. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, sports, traveling, and connecting with people.

Harish Uppu is a PhD student who started in fall 2023. He is excited to learn about climate modeling and weather prediction. His research interests include understanding climate variability, tropical monsoons, and the impact of future climate changes and improving numerical weather prediction. Vishal Juneja is a PhD student who started in spring 2025. He is passionate about exploring the physics of the atmosphere and the Earth system. His research focuses on understanding the dynamics of hurricanes and other extreme weather events, as well as enhancing numerical and AI-based prediction systems. Brad Jennings is a PhD student (Fall 2025 to present) co-advised by Drs. Vincent Brown and Huanping Huang. He is passionate about studying precipitation rates across the United States, and if climate change has any impact on precipitation rates at various temporal scales. He is also exploring applications of Artificial Intelligence to better understand rainfall dynamics. Outside of his research, Brad enjoys powerlifting, music, and reading. Zoe Whitton is an undergraduate student graduating in Spring 2026 with dual degrees in English Literature and Geography with a concentration in Climatology. She is currently working on an honors thesis examining the shifting of the arid-humid divide in the Central United States. When not studying, Zoe enjoys birding, cross-stitching, and reading.
