Dr. Shiyu Li is the director of the HABIT Laboratory. As a behavioral scientist, Dr. Li's research is driven by a simple goal: to make behavior change engaging and less burdensome.

Her primary interest involves using psychological principles to develop behavioral interventions that help individuals build self-regulatory skills and form lasting habits. She specializes in delivering evidence-based behavior change strategies through digital tools.

Kimberly headshot

Kimberly Allen, LPC-S, LMFT is the project manager of the HABIT Laboratory, research associate at the Social Research and Evaluation Center, and owner of Kimberly Allen Counseling. At the Social Research and Evaluation Center, she leads and evaluates major statewide health initiatives, bringing a strong foundation in behavior modification and program effectiveness to each project. In her private practice, Kimberly provides marriage and family therapy, individual counseling, and clinical supervision, integrating evidence-informed strategies to promote meaningful behavior change. 

Her background includes more than a decade in school counseling, where she guided systemic processes such as SBLC coordination, schedule development, testing oversight, and prevention programming. Kimberly holds an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a B.A. in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University.

Jabari Bennett is an incoming PhD student in Kinesiology at Louisiana State University, where he will work under the mentorship of Dr. Shiyu Li. He earned his M.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and holds a B.S. in Psychology from Mississippi State University. He is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland. His research focuses on psychophysiology, particularly how physical activity influences mental health and stress responses and how these processes inform health behavior change and habit formation. Outside of research, he enjoys spending time outdoors and weightlifting.

Maya Laugand is a research assistant of the HABIT Laboratory. Maya is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. Maya currently majors in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Movement Science, and has a biology minor. After graduating from LSU, Maya plans to pursue a Master's degree in Biology, before attending medical school.

Kasen is a Sophomore currently majoring Computer Science with a concentration in Data Science. After graduating from LSU, Kasen plans to focus on applying the skills he learned to build projects that benefit society.

Jaidyn Myers is a research assistant of the HABIT Laboratory. Jaidyn is originally from San Antonio, Texas. Jaidyn currently majors in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Movement Science, and has a photography minor. After graduating from LSU, Jaidyn plans to attend physician assistant (PA) school to earn her Master’s degree with the goal of working in emergency medicine, OB-GYN, or pediatrics.
