Alexander Dunaway – 3rd-Year MLA Student
Graduate Research Assistant

Alexander is exploring how the design of solar farms can be optimized to enhance ecological services, with a focus on wetland integration, microclimate design, and water flow. His current work involves developing a tailored plant palette and contributing to a digital twin model to evaluate ecological performance. Through this project, he is building expertise in ecological design, research    methods, and interdisciplinary collaboration within landscape architecture.

Jacob Midkiff – 4th-Year BLA Student
Undergraduate Research Assistant

Jacob is working on storm surge modeling using XBeach, focusing on creating a more accessible workflow for designers. He helped to develop a MATLAB toolkit that streamlines simulation setup and integrates with platforms like AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, and ArcGIS Pro. He is also exploring the use of Python to enhance compatibility and usability within design environments.
