SunGrains

 

Spearheaded by LSU AC and Stephen Harrison, SunGrains (Southeastern UNiversity GRAINS) is a seven-university breeding cooperative in parternship with Texas A&M, University of Arkansas, University of Florida, University of Georgia, Clemson University, and North Carolina State University. SunGrains was established in 2005 between LSU, UF, UGA, NCSU, and has since expanded to include Clemson and Texas A&M.

Mission

The mission of the SunGrains cooperative breeding program is to increase efficiency and productivity of the breeding programs to ensure development of superior varieties that serve all end users; to enhance graduate student training in applied and basic plant breeding and genetics research; and to ensure long-term viability of these programs by increasing opportunities for program funding through revenues and enhanced extramural funding.

SunShow

Organized annually, the SunShow demonstration trial displays release candidates from all 7 SunGrains breeding programs across the Southeast United States. Visit the SunShow website to view information on this year's variety release candidates and find addresses for participating locations.
