Chemistry Education Research and Practice (CERP) at LSU!

Zakiya S Wilson-Kennedy

The CERP Group, led by Dr. Zakiya Wilson-Kennedy, is opening in Fall 2022! Our group pursues fundamental research in chemistry education. We investigate and test theories that contribute to the understanding of the effects of inclusive pedagogical and mentoring strategies on the culture of STEM classrooms, student affect, persistence & graduation, and learning outcomes.  Our work focuses on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) systemic change and education models that integrate the theories of identity development, empowerment, social cognitive career theory, and community cultural wealth. We create and test development structures that cultivate self-efficacy and agency, particularly for PEERs (persons excluded by ethnicity or race).

Open positions for graduate and undergraduate researchers
