Lab Director

Rachel Williamson Smith

Rachel was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her B.A. from the University of South Carolina in 2012 and completed her M.S. (2015) and Ph.D. (2018) at the University of Georgia under Dr. Nathan T. Carter.

Rachel's research began with a focus on personality and measurement, specifically in the context of best practices for selection and organizational surveys. Her research has expanded to include both the dark and bright sides of employee well-being, the importance of diversity for organizations, and the unique work experiences of individuals from marginalized groups. Her research has been published in a variety of journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, Human Resource Management Review, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, the Journal of Managerial Psychology, the Journal of Personality, and the Journal of Research in Personality. 

Current Graduate Students

Sydney

My name is Sydney Green and I am a second year student in the I/O Psychology PhD program. I was born in Ohio and spent most of my summers in New Orleans, LA. My main research interests are diversity and the effects of discrimination in the workplace on the mental, physical, and emotional health of employees. After school, I hope to obtain a faculty position at a research-focused institution. In my free time, I like to binge watch The Good Place or get outside the house to play sand volleyball.

Gino

My name is Gino Howard and I received my Master's Degree at California State University, San Bernardino, and am now pursuing my PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at LSU. I am interested in studying diverse and marginalized populations in the workforce. I was born/raised in Southern California, I love to play music, be outdoors, and spend time with my family.

Hannah

My name is Hannah Perkins Stark and I am a first year student in the I/O Psychology PhD program. I graduated from LSU in May 2020 with a B.S. in Psychology and I am excited to continue the research I started in undergrad. My research interests include burnout, marital satisfaction and work-family conflict. Outside of school, I like to do yoga, meal prep, and host game nights for my friends.

My name is Horatio Traylor and I am a senior majoring in Psychology. I am from Monroe, Louisiana and currently live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduation I hope to pursue a graduate degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. In my free time, I love to watch anime, listen to music, and read suspenseful fiction books.

My name is Emily Loe, and I am a senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Communication Studies. I am from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduation, I hope to pursue a graduate degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends, sing, and listen to music.

After graduation I hope to pursue a master’s degree in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. In my free time, I love to visit my family, go to coffee shops with my friends, and catch up on my favorite TV shows.

My name is Tiffany Huynh and I am a junior majoring in Psychology. I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a master's degree in Marriage and Family therapy. In my free time, I like to read manga, hang out with my best friend, and try new restaurants/ cuisines.
