Personal Statement

I am a senior level Bioinformatician, Information Architect, Data Scientist, and Software Engineer with 20+ years of experience working for two major universities involved in Genomics & Bioinformatics (PENN STATE & LSU), a world-class chemical company (BASF), and a start-up software development company (VEDALABS).  I have a broad background in biology, engineering, and computer science and have combined aspects of all 3 disciplines my entire career.  I have experience architecting, developing and implementing bioinformatics solutions and ability to capture and analyze complex requirements and define solutions.  I have proven experience in data management using various relational database management systems and programming languages, and evaluating and using open-source software as needed. I have great mentoring skills, experience guiding other development team members on best practices and proven ability to work with and effectively lead cross-functional teams.
