Parent-Child Interactions
We are interested in learning about how parents interact with their young children and how these interactions support language development.
Who can participate?
- Parents or legal guardians aged 18+ years
- Must have a child between ages 2-5 years
- Child has typical development or has an autism diagnosis
Parents will be asked to:
- complete a secure online survey about their interaction style with their child and about their child's langauge and developmental abilities (~45 minutes).
Families will receive $20 as a thank you for completing the survey.
- Link to the survey for parents of typically developing child
- Link to the survey for parents of a child who is on the autism spectrum
Follow-up session option:
- An optional follow-up session may be scheduled. Caregivers will be asked to play with their child for 20 minutes while being video recorded.

Word Learning in Kids
Who:
Children on the autism spectrum (e.g., ASD, PDD-NOS, Asperger's)
- Between 4- and 10-years-old and who can speak in simple sentences
What:
We are interested in learning how children learn new words and how reviewing information vs. quizzing information affects learning.
How does it work?
- This study involves six sessions (range 2-7 sessions).
- The sessions typically take 1 hour.
- Parents/guardians will also be asked to complete forms about the child.
Where?
- Our LSU lab, or your child's school, therapy center, or home
Families will receive:
- Compensation at a $20 an hour rate and information about their child's language abilities.
