Vladimir Kush is a Russian-American painter who has transformed himself from a struggling artist earning his living by drawing portraits on the beaches of Santa Monica, to a major artist recognized on both sides of the Atlantic for a style he has fashioned as “Metaphorical Realism." His American odyssey began in 1990 when he chose not to return to Russia and flew to Los Angeles. After the opening of the first of his galleries in Lahaina on the Hawaiian Island of Maui in 2001, he has gone on to win the Artistes de Monde Award at Cannes and now owns a number of large high-end galleries across the United States. His work is represented in permanent exhibitions worldwide.
