Low-symmetry supraparticles obtained by magnetic field-driven assembly

Ahmed’s project on assembly of low-symmetry supraparticles has been published in Science Advances (DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.aba5337), on May 8, 2020. Using external magnetic fields generated from an electromagnetic coil, we demonstrated the magnetostatic assembly of patchy ‘core’ particles with isotropic ‘satellite’ particles in ferrofluid. We investigated parameters to pre-program the structure and symmetry of the assembled supraparticles and their dynamic reconfiguration by manipulation of the field.
