Worker accidents and safety, environmental aspects of wood products processing, wood residue utilization and operations research/expert systems/GIS applications to the forest products industry.

SUMMARY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Research in worker safety, biomass energy and environmental applications to forest products.
  • Implementation of a geographic information system (GIS) for a state agency.
  • Expert system to diagnose electrical, mechanical and product-quality problems with veneer lathes.
  • Established an inventory control system at a sawmill; set depletion rate.
  • Supervised 15 workmen at double the bonus production with no accidents.
  • Administered 6 independent contractors. Mills kept supplied despite unusually adverse weather.
  • Investigated accidents and wrote Safety Alerts. Responsible for the safety of up to 50 individuals. Conducted about 50 safety meetings in industry.
