Johnny Matson, Professor

Distinguished Research Master

Dr. Matson's interests have focused on the development of assessment and treatment methods in the fields of intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. He has been a professor at LSU since 1985, and in 2002 was the recipient of University-wide award of Distinguished Research Master in recognition of outstanding career accomplishments in research and scholarship. He is also a 3 time recipient of the Thomson Reuters lists of "The World's Most Influential Scientific Minds" and a 2 time recipient of the Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researchers for his work on development, assessment and treatment of co-morbid conditions in developmental intellectual disabilities. Dr. Matson is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and is on the editorial board of 6 other journals. He has over 800 publications including 43 books on mental retardation, autism, and severe emotional disorders.
